WHAT IS FUCKED UP ABOUT THIS

is a question that can be answered
is revealed at the end of the utopia

the guard dog barks and sharpens his teeth
stiffens his back and puts his legs under
orders to throw all of him at your weak spot
and the junk behind him is still junk

or a jet overhead gets in the way of the stars
and doesn't mind landing in Las Vegas

put it this way: you and I we're here that's OK
where else would we be unless it was somewhere
that we hadn't decided to be

I overheard these people the other day
come Y2K I'll lock the door and count the canned goods
I'm ready my wife is ready the kids have been told
me too it's the last chance we'll have
and no ballots to count

the misery I love is the one you showed me
I thought I could manage until I saw
I couldn't and the need was there
to count my blessings and wait for help

of course there are strings attached
to my mind but the pulling isn't
driving me crazy it's the loose ends
