11/26/01

in the dark before dawn the stars
are clear in the chill and my heart
beats slow and confident due to
the huge pile of wood in my yard
delivered just yesterday by
Mr. Winter whose fine wife sat
in the truck with the new baby
seven she said seven of them
and I replied the bigger ones
can help out with the little ones
Mr. Winter said he'd drop wood
anywhere for twenty-five bucks
and wished he could find an artist
to draw his children for firewood
