MONEY WORRIES

dreaming of an owl
hooting in my face
waking late to a low sky
gray withholding light
fire to build Sunday morning
network news shows with
politics and personal vignettes
of the ordinary middle hearted
starvation we can plan for

the road is gray as the sky
it only pretends to go
where I'm going I only
go there to get money
the violence of the storm
descends till it reaches earth
which it cannot toss about
your troubles your troubles
my troubles the wind's

power is in its voice
who can tell the difference
between your voice and mine
rain it's warm like spring
but the black twigs spell out
the real season we talk
it's serious it's someone's life
goddammit tonight at home
high wind tornado watch stay calm
