Listen!
1/28/08 as daylight does the dark spreads in from the east the wheel never stops turning high and low the woods has shed its cover so the part moon and the stars are enough light for walking enough walking to keep me warm in summer every twig here will hold a leaf each leaf will hold a shadow and each shadow will lie on another till the dark is darker what we know is change and recurrence with every return something has been lost and something new added but every change is well known we have been through this before the escapes and afterlifes we imagine imagine the stopping of the wheel but no such escape could be lived in if living is as we have known it I have paused and the cold catches up with me it pinches at my fingers smell of frost on stone two branches stirred by wind creak a voice out of each other
