AN AFTERNOON

A girl and a boy were walking through a forest of apple
trees. The girl said Watch for lions. The boy said
Like we always do. At the top of a tall hill there was
an endless plain. The girl said Be a horse. The boy
said I'll run faster. The sun went on ahead (it had a
head start). There was now a wind, and birds. Wild
hooves stomped and clattered. The girl said I'll stop
when you get tired. The boy said OK, I'll stop. The
girl said Thank you. Just then, a garden jumped up at
their feet. The tomatoes were big enough to sit on, and
the watermelons were as big as a school. Digging in the
dirt, they found moles to ride like ponies. The girl
said Do we have parents? The boy said What do you think?
