TILL IT THAWS

1.
the house is close by
the cold is closer

in the woods ahead of you
you hear a clacking
from trees

snapping their fingers
at the wind

2.
not only white also
blue and red in flashes
the snow presses
your eyes closed

3.
the tracks in clean snow
a rabbit left

only his and yours
in all the woods' loneliness
has he

lost his way too

4.
midnight
you step outside

you hurt from breathing
and remember you are hollow

how deep the cold has sunk
how close the dry sky

with its piece of moon
and white stars
