ACCOUNT OF MY DAYS
Sequence: 3
FORGOTTEN
I remember a world
and it is there all around me
my hands much smaller
odors in the air
that haven't been familiar for years
voices coming from the kitchen
argue about something
that happened long before
or the day before
outside the snow heaps
and smooths the fields
the cattle weathervane
their rumps windward
a calf born tonight
and alive tomorrow
will be a compliment to its mother
the remembered world blows away
on its own wind
the rule of now returns
today's hands guided by today's eyes
will do things easily forgotten
hard to believe how fast forgotten
