PRAYER heart made of dirt that circles itself through the trees through the deep-stretched roots that entices light to be its blood that sugars its extensions salts its countless motions that lowers itself through the rocky basement that reaches around itself to stay what tries to run away that covers itself in every color every garment that lets its strength spring out unexpected amongst the darkened tribe departing ones that discovers each beat as a new measure marking out its tirelessness its eager delight endure me march me warn me before I overcome myself in striking out only for one shore the distant line I let myself see
