FIREFLY NIGHTS firefly nights and bloom the faces in high storms my years fly away from me with their people worrying their hands I can live where I want and I live here relentlessness and terror cannot be denied or escaped but they leave as often as people do the eye of memory is set in a flat plain tall of crops the tallness of the sky is greater and when the storms build you can see lightning stretched through from top to bottom inside the storm my house shines I made the light by myself out of love for the center of the world that looks at it over many distances all things are desperate things living closes in on itself my mouth works to contain its moisture my eyes fall together at night the past is a beast that rode us here arrival a crisis departure relief and whenever it moves it moans a little having far to go
